Curtis can also be seen on TV this month in Supergirl and Life Sentence.

Rising Canadian actor Curtis Lum has a recurring role as local fisher, Calvin, in the buzzed-about new Freeform original series, Siren. The drama follows a mermaid-obsessed town that is turned upside down when a mysterious girl appears and havoc ensues. Siren recently had its two-hour premiere, and is currently airing on Thursdays on Freeform.

Calvin is a local from Bristol Cove. He is one of the crew members on the North Star that is convinced they caught a mermaid. But, before they can figure out exactly what it is, it is immediately confiscated by the military. This leads the crew to take matters into their own hands to see if there are more mermaids in the deep.

Curtis can be seen elsewhere on the small screen in two CW series’: Supergirl and Life Sentence. Curtis returns to Supergirin his role of Agent Demos, an agent in the DEO that works with Supergirl and her team to keep National City safe from the bad guys. His next action-packed episode airs on April 23rd, and he will be returning later this season in a must-see lead-up to the season finale. And on April 11th, Lum is guest starring on the CW dramedy Life Sentence, starring Lucy Hale. Curtis plays Wallace, Aiden Abbott’s (Jayson Blair) ex-boss and friend.

On the big screen, Curtis is appearing in his first feature film, Meditation Park, now in its second month in Canadian theatres. With an all-star cast, including Chinese movie legend Cheng Pei Pei (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), Sandra Oh (Grey’s Anatomy), and Hong Kong-American actor Tzi MaMeditation Park premiered at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, before screening at the Vancouver International Film Festival and in theatres across the country.

Meditation Park is about a devoted Chinese wife, Maria (Cheng Pei Pei), who discovers her husband’s infidelity, propelling her on an empowering journey of mental, financial and physical emancipation. Curtis makes a cameo in this film playing a young fishmonger that Maria always goes to hassle and bargain with.

Curtis broke into the world of entertainment when he landed a recurring role on the Canadian teen-drama Renegade Press as Conor Ying. Soon after, Curtis booked his first movie playing a sperm-donating monk on an Anna Chi film called Dim Sum Funeral. In recent years, he has played Henry Kishida in FOX’s Prison Break and other guest roles in TV series’ including TravelersThe ArrangementThe Romeo Section, and Psych.

Curtis is a “bonafide hustler” and a “fighter”, willing to take on a variety of roles to breakthrough in an industry where Asian Americans are still a minority.

He has worked behind the camera on a number of projects, including producing Jaded and Chasing Mood, and a short experimental film called Pyramid, which was taken from the award-winning piece Spoken Word written by Andy Garland. He also produced the music video HeadLights featuring Cadence and starring Nalani Weston, breaking boundaries with his talent as he also sang on the song.
